Choose Beauty of Self
There is a maddening crowd we must escape
as against the daily toil our spirits scrape
growing tarnished and slightly damaged
our sense of selves by others ravaged
we look into mirrors and see every blemish
our lives we think to change we wish
and yet the negatives we note no others know
others were not with us as we lived and did grow
who we are in meeting someone new
who we are in that moment is their "you"
which they will know from that point on
is as if expecting Night to know the Sun
when you refer to things previous
to that to which you have now become
and in optimism verily it can be said
many blemishes you see are in your head
never escape outward to be sighted
all of us beautiful none are truly blighted
and at each dawn if we work diligently enough
we can learn to treat ourselves less rough
catch a glimpse of these things people praise
in our own eyes our selves could raise
and open up and accept an imperfect world
where never has there been a perfect boy or girl
for each and everyone a blemish in ourselves see
let go and love and joy forever more will be.

 read an article on how we always think we come off much worse, or appear less interesting, and that people are less interested in us, than they are, when we first talk to them....and it grew forward from there....

....yes, we need to be kinder to ourselves, and listen and ask questions more of others...(in part 2, we will address world peace )

 I am guilty of being my own worst critic. My niece had a great way to talk to herself which she relayed to me...It's simple. Talk to yourself like you would a loved one or friend. Seriously being a kind and empathetic person to others should be how I treat myself eh? Thank you Mulleen for a lovely thought provoking poem.

 do not allow the self-critic you cannot out run
to have the final word on what you have become
instead accept in your own way your beauty shine
and someone then will desire to make you "mine".
